On February 5, 1970, I began my lifelong career in guitar education. Since then, I've discovered my true passion: inspiring students to realize their musical dreams. I'm a self-taught musician, and across 56 years of teaching, I've been a student of how people learn. My role as a coach is to help you hear the music in your head, see it on the fretboard, and execute it with flawless technique.
I've taught thousands of students, from beginners to seasoned pros, and created over 205 TrueFire video courses on every aspect of guitar playing. I'm known as the man who can play anything, and that versatility lets me teach across a wide range of styles and techniques. As a working musician, I've played everything from funky bars to concert stages, session work to European festivals.
My philosophy: you are your own teacher, and I am your coach. If you can sing it, you can play it. Rhythm comes first. And above all, anyone can enjoy expressing themselves through music.
